I go for Leica, the camera body seem anachronistically aesthetic (even the new digital SLR).
Carl Zeiss seems to be all the rage for camera phone, even Sony Alpha α100 Digital SLR comes with one.
Optically, I don't have a say on this.
In marketing, Carl Zeiss manages to penetrate the "plebeian" camera aficionados (with entry level SLR lenses) while Leica still rank highly in "bourgeoisie" deep-pocket.
thanks for the input, man. Leica is wide-angled. Carl Zeiss is geared more on video-lens.. right? I don't know. I'm actually looking for a good digital camera. budget around rm1.5k. suggestions, anyone...
taufiq: did u mean the red-eye effect? is red dot a feature of the lens? panasonic does adopt leica lens whereas sony puts carl zeiss' in just about any imaging devices they got.

Definitely Leica man.. but the Red Dot will cost you a lot. Except maybe if you go for Panasonic which is using Leica's lens without the Red Dot.
